A/Prof Ding Yew Yoong
Visiting Consultant
Dr Ding is a senior consultant at the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He completed his health services research fellowships at the Veteran Affairs (VA) in Boston, and the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) in Toronto. Dr Ding has been involved in clinical and health services research, including a NMRC-funded research project on pneumonia in older persons. His current research interests are in evaluation of healthcare programmes for seniors, methods for addressing selection bias in observational studies, and causal inference.





Dr Gary Ang Yee
MBBS, MPH, Dip(Family Med), GDMH
Associate Consultant (Public Health)


Dr Ang Yee Gary is an advanced specialist trainee (Public Health) with an interest in epidemiologic research on Type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease. In his free time, he plays contract bridge and has represented the Ministry of Health in the Star Game Contract Bridge Team Competition.

Cheryl Lobo
BA (History)
Information Specialist

Cheryl is an Information Specialist with HSOR. She assists the team in acquiring, evaluating and searching bibliographic databases for reference to scientific literature. She has received the HMDP award for training in Medical Library Science in 2011 at York Health Economics Consortium, UK. She is also actively involved in organizing training activities conducted by the team, and is a systematic reviewer certified by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI).

Ge Lixia
BMed (Nursing), MSc (Physiology)
Research Analyst

Lixia is currently involved in population health evaluation and quality of care projects. She has been involved in research teams spanning various industries such as healthcare, education and sports science. Prior to joining NHG, she conducted various clinical oncology research at National University of Singapore. Her research interests include community health, nutrition, clinical research and epidemiology.

Dr Joseph Antonio D Molina
MD, MSc (Public Health)
Principal Research Analyst

Dr Molina has been involved in training activities, health programme/service evaluation and patient satisfaction surveys. Prior to joining NHG, he was Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine in a university in the Philippines, and was involved in clinical quality monitoring and hospital accreditation for Joint Commission International.

Kenneth Lim Teck Kiat

Research Analyst

Kenneth graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours. He has previous research experience at various Psychology-related labs at National University of Singapore, Harvard University and the University of Warwick. His research interests include epidemiology, behavioural economics and quantitative systematic reviews.

Li Ruijie
MSc (Occupational Therapy)
Senior Research Analyst

Ruijie worked as an occupational therapist prior to joining NHG as a research analyst. He has experience working in both the acute and community healthcare settings in Singapore. Ruijie obtained his Masters in Hong Kong and has since worked on numerous research projects aimed at documenting and improving healthcare related outcomes both in Hong Kong and locally. His research interests include assessing psychometric properties of instruments and using various quantitative and qualitative methods in analysis and interpretation of the data collected in studies.

Dr Meng Fanwen
MSc (Operations Research), PhD (Operations Research)
Operations Research Specialist

Fanwen completed his PhD programme in operations research at the NUS. Prior to joining NHG, he worked in NUS and the University of Southampton in UK. His recent research interests extend to capacity planning, resource allocation and scheduling in hospital, logistics in healthcare delivery system and dynamic treatment regimes.

Dr Nakul Saxena
PhD (Clinical Epidemiology)
Senior Research Analyst

Nakul holds a PhD in clinical epidemiology from the National University of Singapore with an undergraduate degree in pharmacy from the University of Mumbai. His research interests span epidemiology, health economics, clinical research and health technology assessment.

Palvannan Kannapiran
BEng (Mechanical Engineering), MEng (Industrial & Systems Engineering)
Operations Research Specialist

Palvannan has developed decision models to support healthcare decision making. These include decision analysis of means testing on inpatient usage, demand projection of geriatricians, infectious disease models for MRSA, capacity planning of short stay ward, network models for community hospital bed planning, setting operating theatre utilisation targets. Currently he is involved in data analysis to support population health management initiatives in primary and acute care. He has previously worked in DSTA developing optimization models.

Palvinder Kaur

Research Analyst

Palvinder Kaur graduated from NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health with a Masters in Public Health. She is currently working on health programme/service evaluation. Prior to joining NHG, she was with the Infectious Disease Research Laboratory, CDC TTSH doing HIV-1 Research.

Dr Pradeep Paul George Gunapal
BSMS, MSc (Epidemiology)
Principal Research Analyst

Pradeep has many years of experience in epidemiologic research. Prior to joining NHG, he worked with the Clinical Trials & Epidemiology Research Unit (CTERU). Pradeep was also a faculty member of the Singapore branch of the Australasian Cochrane Centre, and was actively involved in the teaching and research activities of the Cochrane branch. His research interests include ophthalmic and chronic disease epidemiology, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, health outcomes research, pharmacoepidemiology, and public health informatics.

Reuben Ong Rong Ji

Research Assistant

Prior to his employment at NHG-HSOR, Reuben was working on psychology-business research as a research assistant at Nanyang Technological University. His current research interests lies in the field of clinical neuropsychology and includes neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia, traumatic brain injury and their impact on behavioral outcomes.

Dr Sun Yan
MSc (Data Mining), PhD (Medical Informatics)
Medical Informatics and Biostatistics Specialist

Dr Sun Yan has worked as a Principal Investigator on several projects related to patient risk stratification, medical decision support, Markov modeling of disease progression, and outcomes evaluation using large observational databases. Her current research interests include predictive modeling, causal inference in health services research, and micro-simulation modeling for population health management. Prior to joining NHG, she worked at the A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute.

Tan Woan Shin

Principal Research Analyst

Woan Shin is a health economist, who has been a Principal Investigator on several projects, and has conducted technical analyses for studies evaluating chronic disease interventions, health resource utilisation and costs. Her current research work focuses on the use of econometric methods in the evaluation of outcomes of new healthcare programmes, and health policies. Woan Shin has received competitive research grants totalling S$1.3 million. She recently co-authored a book on “Synthesising Economic Evidence” as part of an online book series on Synthesis Science in Healthcare, published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins and the Joanna Briggs Institute. Prior to joining NHG, Woan Shin worked as a Research Economist with the Ministry of National Development (MND).

Teow Kiok Liang

Operations Research Specialist
Kiok Liang has completed projects on the optimisation of hospital work processes for both outpatient and inpatient settings, and projections of national healthcare demands. Prior to joining NHG, he was with the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA). Kiok Liang’s key research interests include operations research, data mining, and health services planning.

Dr Yap Chun Wei

Principal Research Analyst (Data Science)

Chun Wei has worked as a principal investigator on many clinical informatics projects, particularly in the areas of oncology and chronic kidney disease. He has experience with the development of clinical decision support tools to aid in the individualization of therapy. His current research interest is in predictive analytics. Prior to joining NHG, Chun Wei worked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Pharmacy, National University of Singapore.

Dr Zhu Zhecheng

Zhecheng holds a PhD in Industrial & Systems Engineering from NUS. His research area is applied optimisation and discrete event simulation. He has project experience in patient flow simulation, appointment scheduling, workload projection and data visualization, etc.
